This Beach is on the wild and undisturbed portion of the Olympic National Park on the Olympic Peninsula in Washington State. Access is limited by either a hike along the beach from the north at Ozette or point south. There is an unmaintained trail leading from the south end of Lake Ozette and it is very challenging as it has slowly returned to the elements. This is a very spiritual place perched below the deep fringe of rain forest and secured by headlands to the south and north. If you walk the beach to the southern headland you will follow a trail up and over to the other side, look for a small path leading to the top of the headland and a cable placed to help pull your way up. You will be rewarded with a dizzying view of the horizon and the coast in both directions. Camping is good in the vicinity of the Norwegian Memorial http://olympiccoast.noaa.gov/living/history_and_culture/shipwrecks/arthur.html which marks the tragic deaths of sailors from a shipwrecked vessel. Protect your food from the critters as they are in abundance. Be aware that this is cougar country and take necessary precautions.
