Saint Martin is the only island in the Caribbean split between two countries. The south side, Dutch Sint Maarten, is formerly part of the Netherlands Antilles but not an independent overseas territory of the Netherlands. The north side, French Saint Martin, is an overseas territory of France. Travel between both sides is unrestricted so you can enjoy beaches, restaurants, and shopping on both sides of the island.
